WILLIE ST, LOWELL BUILD 2014- Celebrating our 100th and 101st Family impacted!
After several weeks of dealing with a tremendous amount of ledge the cement trucks arrived early on Monday May 12 and began pouring the concrete for the foundation. Then on May 29th the first wall was raised by women from Lowell General Hospital. It is official, Willie St build is underway.
Our Partner Families; the Bullard Family and the Bamunoba Family enjoyed building along side volunteers. On December 19th both families became proud homeowners.
It takes many hands to build a home. Thank you to the 1000′s of volunteers needed to turn this once vacant lot into two safe, decent, energy efficient, affordable homes. All this could not happen without the dedication and support of the community.
“Being a homeowner to me and my family means a lot. First , it is peace of mind, and no more moving from apartment to apartment. The children think having more space, a room to relax in, and a backyard will give them the chance to walk and play outdoors and do better in school as well.
We are ready to work with you.” Kabagambe
ROCK STREET, LOWELL 2013 BUILD
4 Families enjoying their new homes on Rock Street:
With help from the City of Lowell, Habitat for Humanity of Greater Lowell was granted property on Rock Street in Lowell. On October 25, 2012, HFHGL broke ground at 49-55 Rock Street. Starting in 2013, construction of 4 homes (2 duplexes) began. By early 2014, 4 families had a place to call home. Students from Greater Lowell Technical High School helped build one duplex and general volunteers and local companies completed the other duplex.
