Habitat Lowell Celebrates Older Americans Month
May is Older Americans Month! We’re celebrating all of our “older” (but young at heart!) volunteers, including Ron.
Ron is a lifelong Lowell resident, raised in the neighborhood formerly known as Little Canada where he attended Catholic School for 12 years. He married his wife Michelle and had two lovely daughters, spending weekends watching them play softball, lacrosse and crew. For many years Ron was self-employed as a carpet installer. He went to work at Wang Laboratories in Lowell where he was trained in AutoCAD design. He moved on to Metalcrafters in Methuen and retired from there in 2021.
He has always been a handyman around the house, doing home maintenance and repairs over the years. After retirement, he had time on his hands and needed something to do. That’s when he found Habitat Lowell. He now volunteers with our Critical Home Repair program, helping local seniors and veterans age safely in place.
Thank you for all you do, Ron!
